The Northern Territory has world-class resource endowment, with some of Australia's largest deposits of uranium, zinc-lead, bauxite, gold, phosphate and manganese, and numerous emerging projects for commodities such as copper, iron ore, rare earths, tungsten, zircon sands and potash, as well as conventional and unconventional oil and gas.
The Territory Government, under the 7 year (2007-2014), $25.8 million Bringing Forward Discovery initiative, is dedicated to attracting exploration into the Territory through new geoscience programs, co-funding of exploration drilling and geophysics and promotion of prospectivity by the Northern Territory Geological Survey. The Territory Government also has a dedicated International Investment Attraction Program to attract investment from key markets such as China, Japan and Korea.
